Transition

This is a print of an original painting that started off as a response to my external environment but turned into a “soulscape”, a way of processing my thoughts and feelings about the new season I was entering. Over several days I poured eco household paints on my canvas, observing how it wanted to flow, before gradually adding graphite powder, Brusho granules, coffee grounds and dried leaves to see how the different elements would interact. As a finishing touch, I incorporated some of my greying hair and leftover wax from a soya candle – a reminder to embrace the present and not to cling to what is past. (You cannot “unburn” a candle, and whilst I could colour my hair, it does not change the fact that I am getting older.)

“Transition” taught me the importance of going with the flow and letting things unfold. I still find this a useful principle to remember, whether I am impatiently waiting for spring to fully manifest after a wet, grey winter or when dealing with personal challenges.

I am aiming to make environment-friendly choices in my whole production process, so I have chosen a carbon neutral printing company with printing facilities in the UK, EU and US for my prints. They offer several great papers to print on, but the paper I like best is Hahnemühle Bamboo.

The smallest print size on offer is a 7″ x 5″ borderless print. I also offer the print in A4 and A2. (Please note there is a negligible border (0.1 inches / 0.3 cm on the left and right of the A-size prints.)
